Established in 1974, RMD began its 35-year-old history in the development of solid-state radiation detectors. Over the next three-and-a-half decades, RMD maintained its leadership in the field of radiation detector materials, nuclear and medical instrumentation, and custom detector applications.

Building on its expertise in radiation detection, RMD went on to develop a series of handheld XRF analyzers for detecting lead in paint, and then specifically for RoHS screening applications of electronic components, solder, toys, and other products subject to the RoHS Directive. The RMD LeadTracer-RoHS handheld analyzer utilizes a special high-energy radioisotope source and corresponding detector, which results in superior performance for RoHS testing and much more reliable results.
